combine the best of flow yoga with mobility training, human locomotive patterns, planes of movement, and progress learning principles in a truly fluid and adapatable practice.
I am thrilled with the feedback from my Movement Mapping certification courses. It's exciting for me to see this seed growing. To see that the practice resonances with students and to now see other teachers teaching the Movement Mapping practice.
The consistent feedback that I've received from teachers that complete the Movement Mapping Course is that they are surprised at how poor their capacities are in many foundational, fundamental human ranges of motion.
My aim in designing Movement Mapping is for students to learn stuff about their bodies via the practice and also to learn how to address these things intelligently.
I also aim to do this in interesting and expressive ways. It’s not just physical therapy. It’s not purely mobility exercises. It’s dynamic flows that are put together and pulled apart showing how self-expression and self inquiry go hand and hand. How specificity can be used to open doors for more self-expression.
Now its time to spread this seed a bit further and offer three complete practices from the Movement Mapping System. That are fun, engaging and progressive allowing for anyone to build a strong, intelligent human frame.
Bridging Flow (sagittal plane, hip flex/extension, straight arm scapular control).
Lizard flow - (lateral/frontal plane; hip ad/adduction; bent arm strength development).
Scorpion Flow (rotational plane, hip rotation, , thoracic rotation, movement complexity).
My Handstand Map - Learn how to apply Movement Mapping techniques for greater understanding of physical skill development. Learn to apply the Movement Mapping hierarchy to handstand giving each student their own map for preparing their joints for the demands of the handstand position and increasing proprioceptive awareness while developing the skill.
My Backwards-bending Map - Learn how to apply Movement Mapping techniques to assess and correct common compensation patterns in the modern body that often impede progress or even cause pain.
My Forward-Bending Map - Learn how to apply Movement Mapping techniques to assess and correct common compensation patterns in the modern body that often impede progress or even cause pain.
